Description

CamSet3P-15

The First and Only Reset-on-Close Aided Reset System

The CamSet3P-15 is a patented cam-actuated three-position aided reset system designed for AR-15 platform sporting rifles. Unlike conventional aided reset systems that operate on a reset-on-open principle, the CamSet3P-15 utilizes a proprietary reset-on-close operating method, creating a fundamentally different reset sequence while maintaining semi-automatic operation.

One of the unique advantages of the CamSet3P-15 is its three-position design. When the selector is placed in the standard SAFE or SEMI positions, the device remains inactive and does not contact, alter, or interfere with the operation of the firearm’s fire control group components. In the SEMI position, the firearm functions as a standard factory semi-automatic rifle using the original fire control group geometry and operation.

When the selector is moved to the third position, the CamSet3P-15 is engaged, activating the patented aided reset mechanism. This allows the system to provide its unique aided reset function while continuing to maintain semi-automatic operation.

Designed around compatibility and simplicity, the CamSet3P-15 works with standard mil-spec fire control group components and can typically be installed in approximately two minutes after the 3-position selector is assembled without permanent modification to the firearm.

The unique reset-on-close architecture is designed to work with the firearm’s natural operating cycle, reducing the need for extensive firearm tuning or modification commonly associated with other aided reset systems. In most applications, minimal adjustment is required to achieve proper operation.

The CamSet3p-15 includes an ambidextrous 3-position safety selector, designed to accommodate both left- and right-handed shooters.

The CamSet3P-15 is precision engineered and manufactured from heat-treated alloy steel to provide exceptional strength, dimensional stability, and long-term durability. Each component is precision machined to exact tolerances and finished with a durable black protective coating to help resist wear and corrosion while maintaining a clean, professional appearance.

The development of the CamSet3P-15 was driven by a simple objective: create a robust, reliable, and easy-to-install aided reset system that integrates with standard AR-platform components while preserving normal semi-automatic operation in the factory firing mode. Achieving that goal required extensive engineering, prototyping, and refinement.

Designed by two engineers with backgrounds in precision manufacturing, mechanical design, and firearms systems, the CamSet3P-15 is the result of countless design iterations, functional evaluations, and real-world testing. Every feature—from the cam geometry and engagement surfaces to the material selection and manufacturing tolerances—was carefully engineered to maximize consistency, reliability, and service life.

Rather than relying on unnecessary complexity, the CamSet3P-15 was designed around a straightforward mechanical principle that emphasizes precision fit, repeatable operation, and ease of installation. The result is a compact, durable system engineered to perform consistently under demanding conditions.

From concept to production, every aspect of the CamSet3P-15 reflects CamTac LLC’s commitment to thoughtful engineering, precision manufacturing, and uncompromising quality.

Protected by an issued U.S. patent, with additional patent protection pending, the CamSet3P-15 represents a unique advancement in aided reset technology.

***Important Operating Characteristic: The selector cannot be rotated from the AIDED RESET position to SEMI or SAFE while the bolt carrier group is open or locked to the rear. The bolt carrier group must be fully forward and in battery before the selector can be returned to the SEMI or SAFE positions.***

How It Works

The CamSet3P-15 utilizes a unique three-position architecture. In the SAFE position, the firearm functions normally as designed. In the SEMI position, the rifle continues to operate as a standard semi-automatic firearm, with the CamSet3P-15 remaining inactive and isolated from the fire control group components.

Only when the selector is moved to the third position does the CamSet3P-15 engage its patented cam-actuated aided reset mechanism. This design allows users to retain standard factory semi-automatic operation when desired while providing access to the aided reset function when the third position is selected.

Why Reset-on-Close?

Most aided reset systems utilize a reset-on-open operating method, where reset occurs during the opening portion of the firearm’s operating cycle. The CamSet3P-15 was engineered around a fundamentally different reset-on-close approach, allowing the reset sequence to occur during the closing portion of the cycle.

This patented design philosophy enables broad compatibility with standard mil-spec fire control group components while reducing the amount of tuning and adjustment often required with other aided reset systems. The result is a simple, robust system that installs quickly, works with commonly available components, and is designed for consistent operation across a wide range of rifle configurations.

Compatibility

The CamSet3P-15 is designed for use with standard AR-15 mil-spec fire control group components and is compatible with most mil-spec style trigger, hammer, and disconnector combinations. Installation typically requires approximately two minutes after the 3-position selector is assembled and can be completed without permanent modification to the firearm.

Note: The CamSet3P-15 is designed for use in AR-15 pattern rifles utilizing the included three-position selector supplied with the system. Always follow all applicable laws and safe firearm handling practices.
